Il s'agit d'une sérine protéase qui présente une large spécificité de clivage. Avec un poids moléculaire de 28 900 kD, elle clive les liaisons peptidiques adjacentes au groupe carboxylique des acides aminés aliphatiques et aromatiques. N'est pas inactivée avec des réactifs chélatants tels que l'EDTA ou des détergents tels que le SDS et est actif dans une large gamme de pH (4 - 12,5)
